   A ‘lease option’ is another name for this type of purchase.

     There is the normal lease [rental] agreement.

     Then there is the option agreement, where a fixed price is set for the property, a

            time frame is noted [e.g. 1,2,3 years] and an option fee is paid on signing

               [just like a small deposit].

 

      You have the option of purchasing the property anytime within the option period.
